The Triune God, who is more holy than we can conceive, moved by His unfathomable love for mankind, whom He created, was pleased not to forsake our fallen and fractured race, who are more sinful than we would ever admit, to the misery and hell that we rightly deserved. But God, rich in mercy, setting out to save a great multitude of human beings who had absolutely no claim on His mercy, sent Jesus, God the Son.
In humility, Jesus took on human form, lived a life of perfect obedience to the Law, all to die a sacrificial death on the cross. He offered Himself as a perfect sacrifice to satisfy the justice and the perfect righteousness of God the Father, taking on Himself the full wrath of God for the sins of all mankind, purchasing salvation and imputing righteousness for all who believe.
In victory, Jesus rose from the dead, showing that God accepted His sacrifice and that God’s wrath against us had been exhausted. He now calls us to repent and believe in Christ alone for our forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and place our faith in the perfect work of Christ, we can and will be saved and are born again into a new life, which starts now and lasts for all eternity with God.
If we repent and believe in Jesus Christ, we are free from the guilt of all our sins and are adorned with the perfect righteousness of Christ Himself. In gratitude to Him, we are to live lives of obedience and service to our Savior and are increasingly transforming into the image of Christ by the power of God the Holy Spirit.
